A Monotype is a unique, one-of-a-kind print, unlike other forms of printmaking, each Monotype is an original artwork and not part of a larger edition like etchings or lithographs. Often described as a combination of painting and printmaking, the result has a chance element, often random and irregular which gives the print a certain charm and individuality which can’t be reproduced.
